Lost homesickness — Opening theme of HUMAN festival

The HUMAN Festival is a multifaceted series of events united by the concept of reflecting on present days and experience of migration.  The festival was held from March to April 2024 in Tbilisi. Official site: http://humanfestival.me/

Lost homesickness — Opening theme of HUMAN festival
My work as a composer was to create an opening theme for the festival and an audio illustration of the immigration phenomenon. Functionally, this serves as a signal before speeches, performances, and other events. The customer's brief included the following specifications: a duration of 2.30 to 3 minutes, a slow or medium tempo, repetition, playability as an infinite loop, and, if possible, Georgian musical motifs.
To create this project, I combined a string section of an orchestra, piano with synthesizers and sound design elements. The central idea behind the lead melody was the deconstruction of the anthem of Russia from major to minor, as a symbol of war, and the anthem for Ukraine as an opposing power linked together by sections inspired by traditional Georgian choral music.
